Australian War Memorial – Canberra

Dedicated to the brave Australian men and women who sacrificed their lives so others may live in a world free from oppression, the Australian War Memorial stands as a shrine of remembrance to their ultimate service.
The photo at the top of this page, a silouette of Simpson and his Donkey, prompts us to reflect on the sacrifice, the mateship’s forged, the relentless courage, compassion and raw humanity that Australian soldiers are revered for on battlefields across the globe to this day.
The banner of the Invictus Games hanging on the wall above the entrance way of the war Memorial in the background of this image is also an appropriate reminder that our lives don’t end with injury and disability irrespective of who we are and that life is always worth preserving and pursuing
