Hey Everyone,

The crew at Platypus Paparazzi Photography have just returned to civilisation following a recent visit to Lee’s Paddocks near the Central Highlands of Tasmania. Lee’s Paddocks represents a bygone era in Tasmania remiss of the legends of the Man from Snowy River from the Kosciusko high plains, where cattlemen forged their livelihoods out of the open alpine grasslands of Australia’s High Country. This area is truly spectacular, lying in the shadows of Cathedral Mountain, Mount Pelion East and just North of the giant, Mount Osser.

Lee’s Paddocks is private land located within the Central Highlands Conservation Area. Camping is permitted, usually with the consent of the Landowners. The land lies along the Mersey River, upstream of Lake Rowallan, to the West of Mole Creek, Tasmania and is a relatively easy 2-3 hour hike from the top end of the Lake Rowallan Road, about 8 Km past the turn off to the Walls of Jerusalem track head.

I have uploaded a few photos from this visit and will add more over the next few days. I hope you all enjoy this beautiful part of Tasmania.

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick word to welcome everyone to the Platypus Paparazzi Photography Website, and to thank all who have been involved in its inception and development. I am very much a novice with website construction so please bear with me as it has been a steep learning curve.

Aside from a photographic pictorial the website aims to be educational and informative and includes links to government departments such as The Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service, and privately funded institutions such as Australian Zoos and Aquariums, The World Wildlife Fund for Nature, The Wilderness Society, and the Australian Wildlife Conservancy, involved in nature conservation management in Australia.

For anyone that’s interested all photos currently shown on the site were taken with an Olympus E-PM1-Mini, 12 megapixel digital, Micro 4/3 camera with the stock twin lens kit or the OMD – EM-5 with either the stock lenses of the EPM-1 or the latest Olympus Pro Zooms – f2.8.
